Across the world climate change is threatening the populations of pollinators – bees, butterflies and other insects – that sustain the cycle of life. We are working with Buglife’s Urban Buzz project to create new pollinator-friendly habitats in a number of locations along the Greenways. Individuals or groups are invited to ‘adopt’ one of these sites to prepare and maintain them and record any ecological impact. We have currently identified two sites, one at the Asham Bar Park and ride entrance and the other along the Solar System Greenway near Naburn. We will be planting seeds this autumn and preparing the soil for additional planting next year through the winter.
